Miyahara 宫原眼科 @ Taichung, Taiwan

Just came back from my 6D5N (21 to 26 July 2014) Taiwan Trip with my hubby.
On our 3rd day trip, due to typhoon we have to cancelled our original plan and we was advised by the hotel staff not to travel too far. So, we decided to check out one of the local recommendations that was close to our hotel - Miyahara Ophthalmology Department 宫原眼科.

This is a very special store in Taichung. Its' located within walking distance from the Taichung Train Station. It used to be a clinic, and now turn into a place selling some local delicacies, such as Sun-cake, pineapple cake and the most famous home-made ice cream.

Everything there is so beautiful, the interior design, the packing, the restaurant, the food, the atmosphere is good with soft lighting, it's really romantic and comfortable...I spent an afternoon there with my hubby.

The Interior:

The entire interior deco looks like a grand library complete with bookshelves and high ceiling.
There's restaurant on 3rd floor for normal dining and 4th floor for for afternoon tea. We headed upstairs level 4 for afternoon tea since we are not that hungry.

The Menu:

Both of us ordered their classic afternoon tea @ NTD $450 (SGD$19++)  for one person which consider affordable.

For Me:

For Him:

Pumpkin Seeds Cake & Almond Cake

Cheese Cake

Sun Cake

After the afternoon tea, we went downstairs to purchased some of delicacies as a gifts for our families and friends. :)

I would highly recommend this place for anyone travelling to Taichung and I think it is a must visit place!

Dolce Tokyo is a Japanese-Italian fusion restaurant. 'Dolce' means 'sweet' in Italian, and true to its name, Dolce Tokyo serves variety of Japanese Desserts!

We ordered:

Ice Matcha Latte (S$7.50)

Smoked Salmon Spaghetti (S$14)

Essential British (S$17)
(Combination of baked beans,Chorizo Sausages, Scrambled Eggs on mash potatoes drizzled with brown sauce and cheese on toast)

The presentation its quite unique, served on chopping board.

Paradise Dynasty (乐天皇朝) @ Westgate

Had my dinner with my hubby few weeks ago at Westgate Paradise Dynasty restaurant. Our first attempt dining at Paradise Dynasty. Nicely decorated, oriented setting and cutlery.

Paradise Dynasty is a casual dining restaurant offering both northern and southern Chinese Cuisine. The restaurant is known for its colorful Xiao Long Bao with different flavors.

The menu offering to me is very similar to Din Tai Fung except for the Flavored Xiao Long Bao.

 Mixed Dumpling (皇朝小笼包) (8 pcs) - S$13.80

The colorful xiao long bao is very creative and definitely a must try! You have to eat this in order: original (pork), ginseng, foie gras, black truffles, crab roe, cheese, garlic and Szechuan. We only go for the original flavor, the other flavors are just weird! Ding Tai Fung better in my opinion.

Chilled Assorted Eggs Loaf (三色玛瑙蛋) - S$6.00

Wok-fried Rice with Shrimp (雪菜虾仁炒饭) - S$10.80

Fried Rice in Shanghai Style (上海炒饭)- S$10.80

Sweet and Sour Fish with Mixed Fruit (鲜果糖醋鱼片) - S$14.00

Sauteed Spinach with Minced Garlic (蒜耳清炒菠菜 ) - S$10.80

Chilled Mango Pudding - S$4.50

Chilled Aloe Vera and Onmanthus Jelly in Honey Lemon Juice - S$3.50

Our total bill came up to S$100.05 for two person for a meal of 9 dishes and tea. Staffs were well-trained, services was friendly and prompt.

Generally, all the dishes are not too bad. I think it depends on your taste bud then.

Bon Apetite!

Fern & Kiwi @ Clarke Quay

Dinner & movie date with my hubby on Friday night! :)

Made a trip down to Fern & Kiwi near Clarke Quay to have dinner after work before heading to a movie date. I had bought a voucher through DEAL.com.sg S$120 Dining Cash Voucher (paid only S$60 instead of S$120).

Fern & Kiwi is a restaurant that serves authentic New Zealand food located at The Cannery in Clarke Quay. They had a bar downstairs and a restaurant upstairs, and I've bought the voucher dined at upstairs.

As usual, to save the waiting time of queuing, I've made a dinner reservation at 8.30pm on a Friday night.

"Kia Ora" is a greeting in Maori, New Zealand, which is the equivalent of "Hello".

Simple and Uncomplicated Menu

The dessert menu

Here are the dishes we ordered:
Pure South New Zealand Beef Fillet (Well Done)

Pork Spare Ribs - A Lone Star Classic

"Lady Claire" Potato Fries

Pineapple & Fruit Punch Juice

Trio Ice-Cream - Comes with 3 flavors Vanilla, Chocolate & Strawberry

Using the voucher, we only end up paying S$16.48. If you are dining without the the voucher, you will probably need to spend about S$130+ for 2 person, and depends on how much food you order too.

Overall, the food is nice, the ambience was cosy and the service was excellent.
